You actually seem to have proven your point and, more generally, a
pretty basis concept of conflict communication: "Understand then act"
("comprendre pour agir" as we say in French).

"You bastards, your installer sucks and doesn't install what I want"

"You seem to be frustrated about the installer. Could you explain us
in details what you're experiencing?"

....then we talk about facts and no more emotions...:-)
