Comments/Problems: USB keyboard is non-functional, so installation is impossible. Boot image 'expert' works. But 'expert' does not find the SATA harddisk. Fedora Core 5 has none of these problems with kernel 2.6. I guess the module ata_piix is not loaded by expert and the USB modules not by expoert26.

You have tried to install Debian Sarge, which used the 2.6.8 kernel. 2.6.8 
is known to have only very limited SATA support.
Please try the installer for Etch instead [1]. That currently uses 2.6.17 
which should solve your issues.
