The bug was reported upstream:
http://bugzilla.gnome.org/show_bug.cgi?id=346810

Mike Emmel has recently re-worked relevant bits which I haven't tested yet:
http://mail.directfb.org/pipermail/directfb-dev/2006-August/002215.html

haven't forwarded this upstream yet

discussed on the directfb ML:

http://mail.directfb.org/pipermail/directfb-dev/2006-August/002217.html

I did some quick tests but no luck yet

it'd be nice if someone could dig a bit deeper and give us more infos.
The bugreport itself has some instructions on how to get a strace:
http://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=373253

I think ATM the frontend is crashing (it happened also with the old libs) but
nobody had time to figure out what's going wrong

I'm sure Attilio can fix this as soon as he comes back from his holidays

this is my favourite feature. Denis Oliver Kropp said he'd be interested working on
it during the meeting in Extremadura. I've recently asked him about this but still waiting
for his answer

Luca Bruno is working on a theme for g-i. He's experimenting different solutions. In case anyone
wanted to see how it's looking like, I've recently uploaded an unofficial iso based on the latest
libs and including the theme:
