Please check - if a file /etc/modprobe.d/local exists (if it does, what are its contents?); - in /var/log/installer/status what version of di-utils was used during the installation. Note: it is better _not_ to use /etc/modprobe.conf but instead create a file in /etc/modprobe.d/ as Lennart already suggested.
