Mmm, cool idea.

Boot "Live CD" for  demo prupose
and start 'd-i' for the installation.

Using a runlevel for this comes to mind.

 telinit 7

will activate the installer

AFAIK is mainmenu the "main loop" of d-i.
Find out what gets it started.
