Bug#288140: [d-i rc2 and daily 20041219] [sparc] Keyboard handling broken on SS20
Package: installation-reports
Severity: important
Debian-installer-version: rc2 as well as daily build 2004/12/19
URL of installer image:
rc2: http://ftp.debian.org/debian/dists/testing/main/installer-sparc/rc2/images/sparc32/netboot/boot.img
daily: http://people.debian.org/~joshk/d-i/images/daily/sparc32/netboot/boot.img
Method: netboot
Machine: SparcStation 20 SMP
Processor: SM51 (SuperSparc)
Memory: 96MB
Base System Installation Checklist:
Initial boot worked: [O]
>From there on, further installation is impossible, as all
keypresses deliver the wrong characters, looks like with a broken
keymap -> no selection in the menu possible. This problem has
also been confirmed by another user in #debian-boot.
There is a short message before the kbd-chooser menu appears. I
do not have the exact wording as it is visible only for a second
or so, but it is similar to "kbd-mode: setting keyboard to unicode
mode".
I cannot provide any logging info as console switching does not
work, so I cannot access the syslog.
Regards,
Karsten
