I have just tested the latest debian-installer image and installation still fails with a warning that packages can not be authenticated even though APT::Authentication::TrustCDROM "true"; is set in /target/etc/apt.conf. I have tried passing the option on the command line and changing the format of the configuration file, but nothing I tried worked. Seems like the option is being ignored. Hmmm. Just looking at the sources.list. At this stage of the installation we don't use apt-cdrom, but install from the netinst iso itself using: deb file:///cdrom etch main So I guess we also need an option like APT::Authentication::TrustFILE "true"; Or we need to instruct apt-install to run with --allow-unauthenticated, which of course is very bad for network installations. Not filed a bugreport yet. Want to get feedback on this first. Versions of relevant packages used in the image: - apt (in chroot): 0.6.42.1 - base-installer udeb: 1.35.2 - debootstrap-udeb: 0.3.2
