Bug#330750: installation stops when scanning disks

uname -a: no shell prompt, didn't even get this far

Processor: Intel P4 3000 Mhz HT
Memory: 1GB in dual mode (Kingtson HyperX)
Root Device: Seagate SATA 80GB
Root Size/partition table: n/a
	Disk configuration: 1. device: Seagate SATA 80GB
                             (2 Windows partitions)
                          2. device: Seagate IDE 120GB
                             (first 15GB free, 2 further Windows partitions)
Output of lspci and lspci -n: n/a
