In debian-installer are the programms "discover" and "hotplug", they read identification numbers of the hardware and load the matching kernel module. We need the output of `lspci -n` for that, or even better ( lspci ; lspci -n ) | sort Send to information in a bugreport ( see http://www.debian.org/Bugs/Reporting for details ) against the package 'discover-data' Cheers Geert Stappers
