Comments/Problems:
I decided to install Debian and netinst I found the most comfortable wa=
y to fulfilling this task. During normal installation
(just pressing Enter after initial screen with Debian logo) the install=
er stops at 'ide-detect' LKM (Loadable Kernel Module).
Then I've tried many times to install in expert mode. Many configuratio=
ns of modprobe with 'ide-detect' and other modules
were examined but without a satisfying result. No hard drives were dete=
cted. It is quite surprising as I tried Knoppix,
ver. 3.7 which is based on Debian. With Knoppix hard drives are detecte=
d. The comparison between LKMs in Knoppix and LKMs in
Debian netinst do not gave me enough info to solve the problem. I am ne=
wbie to Linux and need someone's help with this hardware problem.
