Some suggestions:
1. Add notes at http://www.debian.org/devel/debian-installer/svn

"(a) If you want to build the current version of the installer, you
      need a testing build environment. WARNING: Because of
      ongoing development work may be broken sometimes"
      Eg: ...

"(b) If you want to build the "stable" sarge version of the
      installer, you should check out the stable branch"
      Eg: ...

2. In file "debian-installer/README":
    ... Then see the docs in d-i/installer/doc...
    This is confusing, since "debian-installer/installer/build/README"
    has more clues.

3. There is no clue/hint on how to generate "businesscard.iso"
    and "netinst.iso" with debian-cd
