Suggested Conventions for XML Markup ------------------------------------ Here are some recommendations for editing and supplementing the debian-installer XML documentation: 1) Use <quote> elements instead of literal quotation marks, or ASCII characters used as quotation marks. The <quote> element is rendered as whatever style of quotation is appropriate to the locale. The exception to this rule is literal input or output that should represented exactly. For example, literal quotation marks, apostrophes, grave accents, and so forth within <computeroutput> or <userinput> elements should be left as-is. 2) Use — and – entities instead of dash (a.k.a. ASCII "hyphen-minus") characters, when you're using them for grammatical asides -- like this -- or within numeric ranges, like 35-50. Dashes in part numbers should be literal -- don't use an entity for those.
