Bug#296418: Installation report
Package: installation-reports
Debian-installer-version: Sarge netinst image ("official", from 2004-11-21)
from debian.org, 2005-02-18
uname -a: Linux coruja 2.6.8-1-386 #1 Thu Nov 11 12:18:43 EST 2004 i686
GNU/Linux
Date: 2005-02-19, all day
Method: I booted from the netinstall CD and began installation with linux26.
All choices were made, but everything stopped at 61% of the base-install. So
I started again, this time with linux24. Everything went fine, but on the
'smoke test' the computer booted continuously. So once more I started over,
this time with expert26, and I could boot to my fresh sarge. But the problems
weren't over: I could not install any packages from the internet because my
ISP has a web-based authentication (pppoe-conf worked just fine), and the
netinstall cd has no javascript-enabled browser. So I had to reboot with a
knoppix cd and download curl and its dependencies to

Comments/Problems:
I booted from the netinstall CD and began installation with linux26. All
choices were made, but everything stopped (freeze) at 61% of the
base-install. So I started again, this time with linux24. Everything went
fine, but on the 'smoke test' the computer booted continuously. So once more
I started over, this time with expert26, and I could boot to my fresh sarge.
But the problems weren't over: I could not install any packages from the
internet because my ISP has a web-based authentication (pppoe-conf worked
just fine), and the netinstall cd has no javascript-enabled browser. So I had
to reboot with a knoppix cd and download curl and its dependencies to use a
work-around script. After the install of my packages, I still had a lot of
problems, but I don't know if they are related to the installer: my first
install of kde didn't work (freeze after login in kdm or startx), but I just
uninstalled and reinstalled and it worked. And I had nothing in
my /etc/network/interfaces file, not even the loopback device!
