eject-udeb broken, request for help
Hi all.
I maintain the eject package, and some time ago I prepared an
eject-udeb, too. I never heard any complains since then.
But as I now discovered, the eject-udeb hardly works at all.
It does get installed apparently, because if I use an installer CD and
switch to the shell during the install, the files are there.
It should provide a menu item, though, which doesn't show up. That's the
first bug and if someone could debug it for me, I would be very
gratefull, because I have no idea how to debug the installer's menu
generation.
The second problem is that eject doesn't work well with the used
combination of devFS and mtab being a symlink to /proc/mounts.
Currently, one cannot eject a mounted CD from the d-i shell, only
an unmounted one. Cause are some bugs in eject that should be fixed in
the version in experimental.
I could extract them from this version and upload a fixed version to
unstable. My question is only: as nobody even realized that eject-udeb
is broken, perhaps this isn't needed at all (for sarge). At least we
know it doesn't break the installer currently...
