Bug#291573: Kernel panic on reboot after apt-get upgrade
Package: debian-installer
As I remember (but not sure) the initial installation was by a
sarge-i386-netinst.iso from around 2004-06-07.
Boot via Lilo from ext3 on LVM (not sure) on hda6.
Now after an apt-get upgrade on 2005-01-19 (last upgrades maybe months
away) the installation gets Kernel panic during boot.
Last 6 messages:
NET: Registerd protocol family 20
ACPI: (supports S0 S1 S4 S5)
RAMDISK: Couldn't find valid RAM disk image starting at 0.
VFS: Cannot open root device "fe00" or unknown-block(254,0)
Please append a correct "root=" boot option
Kernel panic: VFS: Unable to mount root fs on unknown-block(254,0)
As this is a seldomly used test machine, I can leave it untouched for
some days, to provide additional information. But I would need some
hints or advice, as my attempt to get more information via a Knoppix-CD
failed (unable to automount).
