Bug#276901: d-i on Thinkpad R40e unresponsive/hangs
Thanks for the advice.
In the BIOS I set: Config -> USB -> USB BIOS Support: [Disabled]
And now, where the ISO of unknown version, using 'linux', previously hung, it now works.
And where test 2-pre, using 'linux', hung, it now works.
But with test 2-pre, using 'linux26' it still hangs at 'Starting system log daemon: syslogd,
klogd.' with and without 'debian-installer/probe/usb=false'
is it not interesting that the earlier debian-installer, using kernel 2.4 (with USB not
probed for), or kernel 2.6, worked, without USB disabled in the BIOS? perhaps
something could be fixed so that people didn't need to disable USB - you can see from
the many reports on the web that a lot of people didn't find out that they should do this
