Yes, I was using beta4 as recommended at 
http://www.debian.org/devel/debian-installer/ .

Er, which archive? d-i thought that there were no IDE modules.

Now that I look in the IRC chan's topic, it says something about tc1, howev er 
no mention on the site. Insight?

There was no solution in that bug.. just discussion saying that it's the 
infamous Someone Else's problem.

However, I now see that rm'ing dpkgs might be a debootstrap thing.

I'm still not sure why we're installing a mailer (and other such things) 
though.

I'd love to install from CD, however this machine has not got a CD drive 
(actually, I stand corrected. it has a drive from God knows how many years 
ago. the drive cannot read CD-Rs.)
