This is bug #253787.  A patch applied locally to the Debian kernel
sources by the maintainer breaks PCI extensively on alphas.  Now that we
know this (after 6 months of frustrating breakage), we should be able to
get it fixed soon.  I suspect the timing is wrong to get this fixed for
RC1, but I definitely mean for this to be fixed before sarge releases
(since it makes half of *my* hardware useless).

Hmm, there are both tulip and de4x5 modules included in the images.
Probably the module would be found ok by the installer, if the PCI
problems were fixed?
