A patch applied locally to the Debian kernel sources by the maintainer breaks PCI extensively on alphas. Now that we know this (after 6 months of frustrating breakage), we should be able to get it fixed soon. Hmm, there are both tulip and de4x5 modules included in the images. Probably the module would be found ok by the installer, if the PCI problems were fixed?
