That URL is of no use to me because I can't burn CDs. Am I right that
there are no floppy images there? The best I can do is test d-i
floppies. Yet I couldn't find any floppies for the current d-i. With the
most up to date floppies that I could find, which is 20040430 (beta4?),
the aic7xxx problem is still there: even though I boot with

       linux aic7xxx

, aic7xxx is not listed by lsmod.

All the other issues in my report were either mistakes on my part or
have satisfactory work around. Still, I believe it should be
documented that modprobe, but not insmod, suppose to work.

In addition, I believe that one of the help screens (F1, F2 and so on)
should explicitly show the boot command to be used with a serial
console. I guess that something like

    linux debian-installer/frame-buffer=false console=tty0 console=ttyS1,9600n8

would do. (That line is written from memory. I hope I remember it
right.)

Rethinking about it, I haven't check whether I can build the floppies
from scratch. In any case, it will require more time.
