Bug#250321: d-i: identify the boot image

Package: debian-installer
Version: read on
Severity: wishlist
Tags: d-i

Hello Debian Installler System Team,

The install-report begins with:
Debian-installer-version: <Fill in date and from where you got the image>

Can the (build) date be put in the image?

BEGIN RATIONALE

For kernels there is `uname -v`, which prints a string like
#2 Thu May 17 21:38:28 WEST 2001

As command for the d-i image I suggest `ident` from the RCS package.
That makes it possible to identify the image outside the installer.

END RATIONALE

Cheers
Geert Stappers
