Bug#247182: partman-lvm: Won't create VG during install

OK- After trying it again- it turns out that the arrow keys are only useful sometimes. You must use the TAB key to get to the continue menu. Also, once you set up a LV, you loose all bindings in the original partition map. It turns them all off.

I think it's just the way the program works- the interface is not always consistent. You can use up & down to do somethings, like return from the CONTINUE button, but must use Tab to get there. very strange.. but it does work.. and so, the bug is not a bug...

Sorry for bothering everyone.. Somehow, i was afraid it was me.. That's what i get for working at 3 am..

I'd be happy to- but I'd like to try to save the list of installed
packages so I don't have to go through the package selection process
again,- well - not as badly. Is that possible? to take a list of the
installed packages and just let the system retrieve them after a full
reinstall?

You should be able to do:

dpkg --get-selections

save the output somewhere (dpkg --get-selections > file)

And later:

dpkg --set-selections < file
apt-get dselect-upgrade
apt-get dist-upgrade

However, you could just try to make an LVM partition on your swap
partition... this way, no important data would get lost.
