[O] = OK, [E] = Error (please elaborate below), [ ] = didn't try it
Comments/Problems:
Reboot error appears to be mostly operator error. Had never installed on
a
drive this big before (30 GB) Both Grub and LILO freaked out on me until
I made the boot partition.
My only comment of a negative nature is that when the system is doing
long
background tasks (newfs, etc..) it would be nice to see some sign of
activity.
Probably because I work on Solaris and am accustomed to the little
spinning
cursor whenever the system is thinking about something. I'm not asking
for a
progress bar or anything like that, just something to break up that
plain blue
screen a little bit. (Those of us that have escaped from the Windows
world are
still a little paranoid about blue screens. ha-ha)
This was a Windows replacement install. I have been running Debian for
some time
on this machine on another drive and my laptop from work. I could no
longer think
of any reason to waste my disk space with Windows as I no longer
required it for
any tasks that I could not perform in Debian. That takes this system
from triple-
booting Win2k-FreeBSD-Debian to Debian-FreeBSD. I feel so much cleaner
now when I
turn on my machine. Keep up the great work!
