Bug#237295: your installation report

I think that you missed by one day our new lowmem support with support for 32
mb systems. That should be in the current images.

:<

> The 3rd console said "Packages and Release downloaded, sorting packages",
> or something similar.

A few people have reported this, and this is the most information I've gott=
en,
but unfortunatly it's not much. Could you please try another install,

I tried 06-Mar-2004 install disks on the same machine and reported the kernel choice is OK.
After several installs from scrach on this slow machine with 8bit ISA eth
I'm a bit fed up. ;( Now the machine is full of packages and hand-made
configuration, so I guess I will not risk another install.
Now I'm into more serious problems --- I tried to run OpenOffice
and it took 1h to start, then another half to stop.
Not much more luck with gnome. I fear I will have to teach
this friend of mine (a nice girl) emacs and latex to write her humanities master's thesis with. :) Good. :>

and watch the progress bar and tell is at what percent done it is when it=
=20
crashes.

Like 80%, or was it 96&? The usual place when it asks you about the kernel.
But this time the message about preparing new kernel choices
after several seconds sunk down beneath the main menu.

Also, on the third console, copy down the last 5 or 10 lines.

Nothing special. All packages installed succesfully and then the usual
several lines about downloading the Packages and Release files
(to check the available kernels, I suppose)
and building the packages list or something, and three dots, as always.
Nothing wrong, IIRC.

Here is the lspci and uname of the 32M computer.

00:00.0 Host bridge: Intel Corp. 430FX - 82437FX TSC [Triton I] (rev 02)
00:07.0 ISA bridge: Intel Corp. 82371FB PIIX ISA [Triton I] (rev 02)
00:07.1 IDE interface: Intel Corp. 82371FB PIIX IDE [Triton I] (rev 02)
00:0d.0 VGA compatible controller: S3 Inc. 86c325 [ViRGE] (rev 02)

Linux debian 2.4.25-1-386 #1 Tue Feb 24 08:11:13 EST 2004 i586 GNU/Linux

Thank you for your good work,
Mikolaj
