Please send a dmesg output from the debian testing system you have
installed on the machine, plus a matching dmesg output from the debian
installer after it has failed find the CD.

One easy way to do the latter would be to go to vc 2 and manually mount
your existing debian partition, and then save the dmesg output onto it.

While you're at it you could include stuff from /proc/ide, /var/log/
(from the debian-installer) and anything else that might be useful in
figuring out what's going wrong.
