Well, I don't see a reason why whiptail cannot use gettext, it will not touch libnewt as such. Translating buttons using debconf templates is what I've been thinking of as well. Yay, nice templates "cdebconf/ok", "cdebconf/cancel"... :-) > I recently looked at RH netinstall (do not remember the exact name > of this disk) and was quite surprised to see that newt buttons were > localized. > French translation made me think that label buttons <Ok>/<Cancel> > had been replaced by <Next>/<Prev>, but I did not check if this is > true. <Next>/<Back> is what RH netinstall uses, IIRC. And, you know, the button texts aren't fixed in libnewt, they are however fixed in whiptail. I intend to change the newt frontend to say <Next>/<Prev> instead of <OK>/<Cancel>, because I think it makes more sense. /Martin -- Martin Sjögren sjogren@debian.org -- marvin@dum.chalmers.se GPG key: http://www.mdstud.chalmers.se/~md9ms/gpg.html let hello = "hello" : hello in putStr (unlines hello)
