| But where in the documentation does it mention that boot-floppies
| are being EOL-ed? I only found this out after people started
| yelling at me because I wanted to add some more functionality to the
| boot-floppies, and so far I still am yet to find out information on
| how to actually install using debian-installer.
I've sent out monthly announcements on the progress of
debian-installer for about six months to debian-devel-announce. The
release of the alpha version was both slashdotted and featured on
Debianplanet. So, I wouldn't call it very secret or hidden. True,
it's not documented on the web pages, but if you intend to help out
with Debian development, debian-devel-announce is one of the more
important lists to be subscribed to.
Searching for «debian-installer» on google turns up
cvs.debian.org/debian-installer/doc/ as the first link. I do not know
why the search engine on www.debian.org does not search
cvs.debian.org, nor lists.debian.org.
| Well, there are some of us who want to help, and make changes to the
| system to improve it, there are also others who have great ideas,
| but can't code to save their life, and expecting those users to come
| up with code patches because you don't want to see messages asking
| for improvements just ranks high on my list of wrong.
As the last status report says:
: If you want to help out, please take a look at
: http://raw.no/d-i/getting_started.html and especially the TODO list
: at http://url.raw.no/?101
You can find the full alpha announcement at
http://lists.debian.org/debian-devel-announce/2002/debian-devel-announce-200212/msg00002.html
(sorry about the long link), which should get you started.
Hope this helps.
