I confirmed this is still the case with the powermac flavor built 3/1
by Colin Walters. This seems to be related not to the b-f build per se,
but more to the kernel 2.2.20 and the video=ofonly setting.

I can boot the powermac installer, and it displays readable video only
if I use the video=ofonly setting. However, that's when the split screen
effect appears.

I can boot the new-powermac flavor (using 2.4.16 kernel) on the same machine.
But in order to do so I must remove the video=ofonly argument (novideo check
box must be unchecked). If I leave the argument in, it refuses to boot at all.

The only problem is, the 2.4 kernel doesn't detect my scsi drive, which is
where I would want to install. I'll write another bug on that.
