I agree 100% with you. The current code doesn't allow for the "boot Linux
installed in a logical partition from a 3rd party boot loader installed
in the MBR" type scenario.

I'm sure the slink boot-floppies let you do it.

This will hurt a lot of people. Booting multiple OS's is increasingly
popular.

Surely we could give the user an option to install LILO in the boot
sector of a logical partition if they really want to? Of course with
a big fat warning that it won't work unless they are using a 3rd party
boot loader installed in the MBR.
