Bug#62530: boot-floppies: Lilo only boot still not working

I believe I was able to reproduce this bug. Well, partially.
This is i386 only of course.

Situation:
  /dev/hda1 -- extended partition
  /dev/hda5 -- logical partition -- mounted as root i.e., /target

  Run "make bootable" ->
     - tell lilo to install in /dev/hda
     - dbootstrap complains that root (/dev/hda5) is a logical
       partiton, thus we must install lilo in the ext. partition;
       all good so far
     - so choose /dev/hda1
     - lilo.conf is written;
         boot=/dev/hda1
         root=/dev/hda5
     - lilo runs all is good
     - reboot

kerblam. I get a kernel panic booting from the hard drive saying that
root is not mountable!
