This looks like it should work fine to me, also. I wonder what
version of `boot-floppies' you are running? If you boot with the
rescue floppy, using a boot commmand line like: "rescue
root=/dev/hda3", then after booting, run `lilo' once, does it reboot
after that? If so, then it should work correctly from the beginning
in 2.2.9.
I think that `compact' is meant for floppy boots more than hard disk
ones.
