Well, you can always compile your own kernels. I think most people
would prefer to have all the modules around, say, if they add a new
card they don't have to reinstall the kernel-image-2.2.14 or whatever
package.
The fact is that effectively, if you use the idepci kernel you get the
modules which are included in the kernel-image-2.2.14-idepci package.
So I think this problem is a dead issue.
