Bug#60370: libdb2 missing from base?
Package: base
Version: 2.2
Severity: important
At the first run of apt-get right after the installation of base, I get
# apt-get install joe
Reading Package Lists...
Building Dependency Tree...
You might want to run `apt-get -f install' to correct these:
Sorry, but the following packages have unmet dependencies:
perl-5.005-base: PreDepends: libdb2 (>= 1:2.4.14-7) but it is not going to
be
installed
E: Unmet dependencies. Try 'apt-get -f install' with no packages (or specify
a s
olution).
Of course, 'apt-get -f install' corrected the problem by downloading and
installing libdb2, but why not ship base with libdb2 included?
Maybe an automatic run of 'apt-get -f install' would be a good idea instead
of including it in base, if the reason for not including it was its big
size...?
BTW, I bypassed dselect (which I personally strongly dislike to use) at the
installation time.
How I work is that I always want to get to the root prompt ASAP after the
installation of base and operate every further installations with apt-get.
In this case I didn't get a clean situation, and that is why I find it a bug.
