Kernel "flavors" needed for i386

What has to be done for a "lowmem" disk ??  The disks for 2.2 which I
got from Incoming don't work on a 4M laptop.  Can we legitimately make
the 1.44 root floppy a lowmem disk - ISTR it needs you to partition a
disk _and_ enable swapfiles / a swap partition to work in 4M - any
ideas ?
