Bug#51864: base: upgrading bind hangs when starting named

Package: base
Version: 19991203
Severity: important

For a while, everytime apt-get updates my bind package, during the setup
phase it tries to start named. This hangs, presumably as some side effect
of not having stopped named first. I need to kill named, stop the service
and then restart it to get my system happy.

Setting up bind (8.2.2p5-3) ...

You have a /var/named directory. Previous Debian packages used this
directory to hold zone data files. Please review the contents, move
any relevant configuration to /etc/bind as per the instructions in
/usr/share/doc/bind/README.Debian, and then remove the /var/named
directory. This package uses /var/cache/bind as the working directory,
and by default expects master zone files to be put in /etc/bind.

Starting domain name service: named

If I wait long enough, apt-get times out and continues on its merry way,
however, I'm left with two named's.
