Jonas' and my answer to this (addressing the code copy issue) are
not answered yet.

Sorry I didn't notice this message (did I subscribe to Debian blends mailing list?) and haven't replied to you all yet.

Rewriting the PhET package hasn't started yet.  I'm considering to ask if University of Colorado would like to have such packages or not.  At least I'll get newest offline version as they have completed many new HTML5 simulations recently.

I'll update the git repository information to you all laaaater since it's bed time here…
