I'm currently in the middle of writing some talk notes / slides about
mass-installs. I've used both FAI and SystemImager myself, and I'd
appreciate any feedback, or input anyone may have in this area.

To answer your question- I'm using FAI now, primarily because it fits
in better with our system administration policy, and can easily be
extended to cover multiple roles, and multiple hardware. [Not
specifically beowulf related, but its a bonus when I can use the same
system to install beowulf nodes as to setup mail servers].

SystemImager, on the other hand, is much easier to get running.
