That seemed to fix it all up, but I had to look at the tasksel names file
to find LXDE, turned out it was actually name lxde-desktop. Once I had a
valid target, it took it under an hour to install 700 some packages.
Rebooted x is running just fine but no acceleration according the the
Xorg log.
Next is add the linuxcnc buildbot repos to /etc/apt/sources.list, and
import the pi's configs and nc_files.
All w/o a clue if this kernel will even run it. Might have to build one
or 14 to make that work.
But that can wait, the old man is beat, he spent the afternoon reworking
the front door frame so it could properly support one of Larsen's
thermopane storm doors. About 100lbs a copy. Had to go get some plastic
trim to seal up a gap between the brickmold and the ends of the nearly
45 yo 8" wide alu siding, and had to write some gcode to cut the
sawtooth pattern in the back edge so it actually fit the sidings wedged
profile. Fugly calking job, but it sure beats the 1/2" wide cold air
vent directly into the walls that it WAS. Should cut the heating gas
bill this winter.
