This mentioned solaar, so I installed it, big dbus miss-fires, so I went
to the machine and looked at the dependencies & installed about a GB of
those too. Including network-manager, which I excised asap. Still
nothing found, not even a logitech unifying receiver. Re-enabled wifi
and BT in /boot.config.txt & rebooted. Got rid of the dbus squawks, but
is now totally mute. Killed the wifi and BT stuff by uncommenting the
killer stuff in /boot/config.txt.

The only thing I have noted now is that the keyboard and mouse seem to be
working normally for both reboots, whereas up till now its been a reboot
until it sorta works. But so far I have not detected a missed key event.

Fingers very very carefully crossed in case the pile of stuff I did
install, trying to make solaar work, was the actual problem in the first
place.

That was a rather lengthy list of stuff:

solaar.

Can you spell ridiculous? I don't think I can. Assinine maybe.

Can we say the Unified Receiver stuff came and went without a whimper?
