The blog entry from Russell implies that bootz is supported and works (but he uses no ramdisk in his example):

This may sound like a silly question but where does u-boot on the cubox-i come from? is it loaded from a flash chip on the board? (like on the nitrogen6x) is it loaded from the SD card boot sector? (like on the wandboard quad) is it loaded by some other method?

In other words are we dealing with a case where a debian image for the board will be supplying it's own u-boot? (in which case I think we could reasonablly insist that people who want to use flash-kernel on the board use a bootz capable u-boot) or are we dealing with a case where people will be using a u-boot supplied by the board vendor? (in which case one would need to find out if their standard u-boot supported bootz).
