You can try the « rescue mode » which does exactly that...
You should append « rescue/enable=true » to the exec line for this.
So the exec line becomes :
exec -c "console=ttyS0,115200 root=/dev/ram mem=256M@0xa0000000 rescue/enable=true" -r 0x01800000
