Sheevaplug installs fine, kernel hangs on first boot

Hello!

I followed Michael's instructions here:

http://www.cyrius.com/debian/kirkwood/sheevaplug/install.html

for installing on the sheevaplug, using squeeze.

Everything works fine during install (just like any other
Debian system), but when the installer tells me to remove
installation media (I installed via tftp), and reboots the
sheevaplug, it hangs (or loses the console?).

(there it stops and does nothing)

The installation seems to look fine when I insert the media into another
computer. When I try to reach the sheevaplug over the network it does
not react to pings.

Any ideas what to do?
Is the kernel created 2009-03-19 the right one?

TIA
