Yeah, it was missing /dev/console. a simple: mount -t ubifs ubi0:root /mnt mknod /mnt/dev/console c 5 1 umount /mnt Was all i needed. it boots fine with just the kernel (no initramfs) now. sorry for the noise. --dkg
