Bug#396631: Files served have 0 bytes in spite of claims in headers & log

Exactly the same bug (0 bytes served, no error messages) also also  
appears using libapr 1.2.7-7 (which should fix apr-related segfaults  
on 2.4 kernels) and renders the apache2.2 package unusable on such  
systems.
Are there any workarounds yet ?
