Bug#215836: apache uses lot's of CPU and Memory

Program received signal SIGINT, Interrupt.
[Switching to Thread 16384 (LWP 18038)]
0x40205ce4 in _IO_file_underflow () from /lib/libc.so.6
(gdb)

It's always in the above function, which is part of the package 'libc6'

The top line of the file /usr/share/doc/libc/changelog.Debian.gz is:
glibc (2.3.2-8) unstable; urgency=low

I thought it had gone away, but it is still happening. Sometimes I am
getting 24 hours without the problem, but then it comes back with a
vengeance. It's quite annoying, because processes like tomcat just stop
when apache uses up all the memory. Then I have to restart the
processes manually.

I'm going to try upgrading (apt-get update ; apt-get dist-upgrade) and
see if the problem goes away.

if you try using this method please take notes of which packages are
actually installed and which gets updated to which version otherwise we
will loose track of the envinronment.

The function where it is getting stuck does appear to be within one of
the libraries, and not apache itself. Does this mean I should file a
bug report against that library as well?

If you can spot the library we can reassign this bug or retitle it to
match the location of the problem.

Thanks
Fabio
