Package: apache
Version: 1.3.26-0woody3
Severity: normal

Since version 1.3.13, apache allows you to create a configuration
directory (in debian, /etc/apache/httpd.conf) and store multiple files
in it (for example, on configuration file per VirtualHost). In
general, this works correctly, but it causes problems when "apt-get
upgrade" attempts to install a new version of the package. The
upgrade fails.

(The workaround is obvious: stop apache, replace http.conf dir with a
single configuration file, perform the upgrade, stop apache, restore
http.conf directory, and start apache.)

Fixing this may eliminate bug 112553 (a wishlist item).

Hi, this bug is invalid. It's an example of =ABI'm able to do stuff to
a package's configuration files so that it stops working.=BB. Having
/etc/apache/httpd.conf is not a supported configuration, and probably
won't ever be. (Though, we're going to redo the configuration system
into something akin to apache2's, which will make some of what you
want available).
