If speed without regard to reliability is desired, consider raid0 for as much as possible.

Yes. So it's just a matter of priorities: if your top priority is
reliability, do swap on raid with redundance; if your top priority is as
fast as possible number crunching and you don't mind the increased risk of
losing the last day or so of results, do swap on separate partitions without
raid. I have a number of both extremal situations, with a larger number
somewhere in-between :)
