AFAIK you would not have to deal with /dev/.static if
udev is installed. Is there a reason to go without
udev on that machine ? I would think here's the first thing
to debug.

Possibly acpi (interrupt) related to mount daemon failure,
so secondary. Assumed it worked at all before...did it ?
Possibly the issue gets started by mdadm ?
Have a look at http://linuxwiki.de/mdadm, about fstab entries,
and into mdadm bug reports / changelog, e.g.
<http://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/pkgreport.cgi?pkg=mdadm;dist=unstable>
on their site i can see 2.6 while debian has 2.5.8
perhaps it's worth to upgrade ?
Also have a look at /etc/default/rcS you can try to disable async
mounting maybe it will clarify the log messages
