I installed AMD64 using a network card with realtek 8139 chipset 10 months ago without any problems whatsoever. I just used the netinstall CD as always, the card got autodetected properly. Moreover, I think the drivers you should try are called 8139cp.ko and 8139too.ko HTH Martin
