I have just acquired the subject system, including two single core 2.4
GHz opterons.
Of course, I want to install debian; as opposed to the rhel that it
comes with!
So, some questions come to mind:
[1] Does anybody here have _experience_ with this? Please, share your
experiences.
[2] WHICH installation is the best place to start? I am in the process
of downloading debian-testing-amd64-netinst.iso -- which debian.org
calls ``etch beta 2 release of the installer'' -- is this the best
way to move to 64-bit linux?
[3] I stopped myself installing debian 3.1r2; and found that it will NOT
find a nic to get a dhcp address. I booted into knoppix v4.0.2,
which found it, and loaded forcedeth; but, it did not automatically
start eth0 ...
Any pointers and encouragement are eagerly appreciated!
TIA
