So the A8N-SLI Deluxe has both an nvidia and a marvell ethernet port.
Maybe the other one isn't the Deluxe version then if it only has one
ethernet port.

After a couple of tries I managed to install etch using this installer http://cdimage.debian.org/cdimage/daily-builds/daily/arch-latest/amd64/iso-cd/debian-testing-amd64-netinst.iso
During one of the attempts I noticed that et0 was autodetected as firewire and ethernet as et1 but normally ethernet came up as et0. Thanks for the tips.
